Here's what I used:
Scotch painter's tape
Paint roller
Edge brush
Yard stick
Pencil
Drop cloth
Before I begin the project I Googled tutorials on how to paint stripes. After my research, I came to the conclusion that my victory mostly lied in how well I taped the lines. When deciding the width of the stripes tutorials suggested dividing the height of the wall by five or eight depending on how many stripes needed for the wall. I decided to make five stripes (three would be in gray). Due to the sloped ceiling in my half bath, I used the lowest point of the ceiling as the height measurement & divided by five. I ended up with (5) eight inch wide stripes. See pic below (the lowest point of the ceiling began directly over toilet which I also used as a focal point). I measured out the stripes using a yard stick and pencil then I taped the stripes with blue painters tape.
For paint I used a Sherwin Williams gray which was left over from my living room project. I left the original matte white builders paint on the walls and used the gray to paint three sleek horizontal lines.
Painting the lines is pretty easy, just remember to pull off the tape before the paint fully dries. I'm happy with the finished project (see below pic) and I'm excited about more projects to come in my first home!
